You must be a BCBSKC insured member to receive the full health and wellness tools offered by A Healthier You. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) administers the Medicare program, works in partnership with the states to administer Medicaid, State Children’s Health Insurance program (SCHIP), and Health Insurance Portability standards (HIPAA). This is a great website for consumers seeking any information about these government programs.
Employee Benefit Security Administration (EBSA)
The Employee Benefit Security Administration (EBSA) was formerly known as the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration. This agency is responsible for administrating and enforcing ERISA. The website provides a tremendous wealth of consumer information on health plans as well as compliance assistance for employers, plan service providers, and others to help them comply with ERISA. EBSA’s goal is to provide access to available plan documents filed with the Department of Labor. This includes the various regulations regarding HIPAA, Cobra, and Summary Plan Description requirements.
Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation
This is the website for the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. They provide information regarding the health insurance system. This includes subjects such as health insurance cost, Medicare, etc. There are two additional websites available as part of this website layout: KaiserEDU.org and statehealthfacts.org. You can reference these two websites directly from the kff.org website. This is one of the best websites regarding research done on health insurance costs both on a national and state-by-state comparison basis.
Kansas Insurance Department
This is a website for the Kansas Insurance Department. The quick links section is very helpful which includes topics such as shopping for insurance, comparing rates, consumer privacy, and a special seniors section. There is a listing of companies approved to market non-group major medical coverage in Kansas as well as information on the Kansas Health Insurance Association (KHIA) and the State of Kansas high risk pool.
